March 31 - April 4

Bacon Bears,

It's all about respect!

We finished off last week strong. Our staff is working collaboratively on a few awesome projects aimed at improving RM Bacon. We are poised to take RM Bacon to the next level.

The Bear Bucks Store and Challenge went very well. Students are enjoying the experience of the Bear Bucks process which further supports our PBIS program.  Each month we strive to make it better for the students. Raising the bar is our job!

This week we are entering April. I am sure everyone has been anticipating what April will bring... flowers, blooming trees and warmer temperatures!

Last week was a busy week at RM Bacon! We hosted our annual Talent Show and our Staff vs. Students Hockey Game.

On Wednesday night (with encore performance on Thursday) the Bacon students showed off their talent! The students did magic, danced, sang, and performed to their favorite songs for all to see. The audience got a special treat as a group of teachers performed a funny version of Single Ladies by Beyonce.

On Friday morning, the students determined who would be the 2014 Floor Hockey Champions. In a close game, the Lighting Boltz beat the Bone Crushing Ballerinas 4-3. Congratulations to the Lighting Boltz on being the 2014 Floor Hockey League Champions!

Later on that day, the students, with the help of a few famous alumni, took on the teachers. Check out this article about the event. We want to thank Dr. Gentile, Mr. Saul, and Mr. Wright for supporting their elementary school!

March 10 - 14

Bacon Bears,

It's all about respect!

March sure did come in like a lion! We missed another day of school on Monday because of the snow, and Tuesday we were 90 minutes delayed. In spite of the weather, we forged on and had an amazing Read Across America Event. The Vineland Daily Journal did a great job of reporting on the event. If you did not get a chance to read about it, click here.

This week the Intramural Floor Hockey Playoffs are upon us! After Tuesday, we will know what teams are in the finals. The Annual Teachers vs. Students game will be held on Friday March 21st at 2:00 PM and will feature Bacon Alumni such as Dr. Dave Gentile, Superintendent; Mr. Dan Wright, Technology Director; and Mr. Steve Saul, Principal of Holly Heights. In addition, our own Mr. Frank Lowers and Mrs. Kelly Bingham will be playing for the Alumni. This game will be great!

Our second grade PEP students will be meeting and interacting with a Seeing Eye Dog as part of their ongoing work with Mrs. Blithe. On Thursday, the Progress Reports are mailed home. On Friday, we will have an Honor Roll Assembly at 10:00 AM to highlight the academic achievements of our students.

March 3 - 7

Bacon Bears,

Its all about respect!

March is here! Now it is time for us to get super hyper focused on READING! Mrs. Benson has organized a Read Across America event for Monday, March 3 that will knock your socks off! Our theme this year is "Sink Your Teeth Into a Good Book." We will be meeting at 2:00 PM for an overview of the event and then each grade level will be reading to the kids (There will be some cool costumes as well).

For the rest of the week, each grade (and class) will be doing some other activities to reinforce reading!

March is Women's History Month and the 4th graders will be preparing to take the podcasting stage as they will be selecting, researching and interviewing an influential local woman. Stay tuned for the podcast :)

In addition to Read Across America. the students will be taking their 3rd Model Assessment this week. Our teachers and students have such an appropriate view of the Model Assessments.... They are designed to be formative assessments designed to assist teachers and students on what is going well and what needs improvement!
