Thank you to Mr. Coyle and changes at Bacon!

Mr. Coyle at the Bacon Step Up

Bacon Bears,

Then, Now Always Family

As you know, Mr. Coyle was recently transferred to Reick Ave. School as their new Principal. Mr. Coyle spent 6 years as the Bacon Principal and will be dearly missed by the staff, students and community. Fortunately, for us, he is still in the Millville School District and will be doing great things at Reick Ave. Mr. Coyle said, "I am really going to miss the Bacon Bears. I was so fortunate to work with such dedicated staff members and students. I am really going to miss all of the great times we had there. I am looking forward to staying in touch because I am right around the corner."

Retirements

We want to thank Ms. O'Neil for her service to Bacon School. Ms. O'Neil retired after 34 years in education. She was previously at RD Wood School and finished her last 5 years at Bacon. She will be missed and we wish her well in her retirement.

Kathleen Harper was with us for the past 3 years as Paraprofessional. She is looking forward to retirement and spending more time with friends and family!

Laurie Polof was at Bacon for the past 17 years in a variety of capacities. She was a first grade paraprofessional and most recently the Financial Secretary for Bacon. Mrs. Polof is looking forward to moving to South Carolina with her husband, Bob to enjoy retirement.

Paula Ford retired this year after 23.5 years of dedicated service. In addition to being a Resource Room teacher at Bacon, Ms. Ford was certified in the Wilson Reading Program, tutored and worked in the ESY program in the summer. Now that she is retired, she is looking to move back to West Virginia and go hiking and white water rafting.

Dr. Cook back in the main office
Dr. Spike Cook, Principal

Our new Principal is a familiar face, Dr. Cook. He served as Bacon's Principal from 2011-2016. During that time, he began the Bacon Weekly Blog, hosted ASCD for their video series on Classroom Instruction That Works and worked collaboratively with the Bacon community to earn a Silver Award for the Healthy Schools Initiative.

Dr, Cook went to Lakeside Middle School and was the Principal there until being transferred back to Bacon on July 1.

Dr. Cook is excited to be back and Bacon, and had this to say, "I am looking forward to returning to Bacon. This school is an amazing place because of the staff, students and parents. I know a lot has changed in the past 6 years, but I do feel like I am back home!"

Dr Cook has two children (Henry - 18 and Catherine - 15) and lives in Linwood, NJ. He is an adjunct professor at Rowan University in the graduate program for School Administration. He enjoys playing golf, tennis and basketball as well as hiking with his dog, Rico.

Kathy Karisko, Principal Secretary

Our new Principal Secretary, Kathy Karisko, is coming to Bacon from the High School. She was worked in the district for four years in various capacities.

Prior to being in Millville, Kathy was in the medical field for 18 years. Kathy lives in Millville with her family. She enjoys camping, going to the beach and just relaxing!

Planning for 22-23

Currently, we are beginning to plan for the 22-23 School Year. There have been and will be a lot of changes designed to improve areas and continue the amazing programs at Bacon. In August, we will be scheduling a few opportunities to meet the new Principal, Dr. Cook. In addition, Dr. Cook will be making home visits to families in the community to get better prepared for the school year. Stay tuned for more details!
