May 14 - 18, 2018

Bears,

What a great week here at RM Bacon!  We'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

In short, we had a wonderful staff appreciation week.  Prizes were given away, baskets were won, and eats and treats were enjoyed.  We even had free massages for those who signed up.

We had April's PBIS Pep Rally last week as well.  It was pushed back due to PARCC testing being wrapped up the prior week.  The students and staff had fun during the challenge, students were recognized for good behavior, and Mr. Coyle used the rest of the time to remind the older grades of what good Bacon bear behavior should look like - a timely reminder as we approach the end of the school year.

Finally, on Friday, we had our annual staff vs. students floor hockey.  This year, the students came from behind to defeat the staff by a final of 6-5.  It was an exciting game, and the students played some of the best floor hockey the staff has seen in years. Way to go, students.

Be sure to check out the calendar.  This is the time of year when everything seems to happen at once!

Everyone have an awesome week!

May 7 - 11, 2018

Bears,

Congrats on another fantastic week in the land of the Bacon Bears!

Last week, we officially wrapped up PARCC testing!!  Mrs. Scull and her crew did a wonderful job making sure everything was smooth and orderly.  I'd like to thank the testing team and the teachers who administered the test for their dedication despite what can sometimes be a stressful number of days.  Well done.

On Tuesday, we have our PBIS Pep Rally, and on Friday afternoon we have our annual staff vs. students floor hockey game.  Also, we are celebrating staff appreciation all week.  This is shaping up to be a good week indeed.

And speaking of staff appreciation, allow me to add this.  Each of you add something to our school that only you can add - a certain gifting or talent that is uniquely yours.  The students directly benefit from your skills and abilities, and they deserve you.  So...keep being you - actually, keep being the best possible you.  Nobody is perfect, and we all slip up here and there.  But any greatness you bring is found in the process of your continual dedication to your craft and to your students.  On this staff appreciation week, I thank you all - teachers, classroom aides, custodians, guidance, PBIS, security, kitchen and cafeteria staff, speech, GT, secretaries - I thank you all for what you do for our school and our students.  You are irreplaceable.  Sure, if you left your position, someone would fill the spot, but they wouldn't be you.  What you do in your way is unique to you, and you are the one in that role.  Think about that for a moment.  You're it! In whatever role you currently have, you're the best the students have, and at some point in the past, someone placed you in that role because you were the best one for it.  You've heard the expression about something being greater than the sum of it's parts. That's true, but it's only greater than the sum when all the parts are doing what they are supposed to be doing.  Each one of us has a role to play.  Keeping performing your roles with excellence!  Not only do the students deserve it - your colleagues do as well. And don't ever forget this - you are all valued and appreciated.

Everyone have a great week.

April 30 - May 4, 2018

Bears,

We hope everyone had a great week, and we hope you're currently having a fantastic weekend.  Bacon school is officially entering the busy season that leads up to the end of the school year.  Be sure to check the schedule and upcoming dates for more info.

Last week, we officially kicked off PARCC testing.  I'd like to thank Amy Scull, Bacon's test coordinator, for organizing and heading up this effort.  During this time each year, our school enters "test mode," and it takes a steady hand and focus from all involved to successfully do what we have to do.  Great job, all!  So far so good, and I have no doubt this will be another successful PARCC in the books when all is said and done.

Check out the pics to see our awesome safety patrol members as they served breakfast for the Kiwanis Club.  Nice job, Bears, and thank you Mrs. Muhlbaier for always doing a wonderful job with our patrol each year!

Staff members, students, parents, local businesses, community members...Bacon's spring Community Night will be on 5/22! This will be a rain-or-shine event.  We hope you see you.
