Dr. Spike Cook has served as a principal in Millville Public Schools since 2011. He began his principalship at RM Bacon Elementary School, serving from 2011–2016, before spending six years as Principal of Lakeside Middle School. In July 2022, Dr. Cook returned to RM Bacon, bringing his leadership journey back to where it began.
Dr. Cook believes that schools thrive when students, staff, families, and the community feel connected and valued. At Bacon, he is committed to creating a school where students are excited to learn, staff are empowered to lead, and families know they are an important part of the school community. Then, Now, Always Family!
Dr. Cook earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Rowan University and continues to work with aspiring school leaders as an adjunct professor. He is the author of two books published by Corwin Press, Connected Leadership: It’s Just a Click Away and Breaking Out of Isolation: Becoming a Connected School Leader. His work throughout his career has focused on leadership, connection, school culture, and helping educators grow.
In addition to his work at Bacon, Dr. Cook continues to write and reflect on leadership and education through his professional work and online platforms.
Outside of school, Dr. Cook enjoys spending time with his family and friends, working on projects around the house, and finding new ways to learn, write, and create.
