June 6 - 10, 2016

Bacon Bears,

The end of the school year is fast approaching, but our students and staff are still focusing on what matters - learning, engaging, and having positive and fulfilling experiences...and maybe having a little fun, too.

Bolts teaching Bears - awesome!
This past week, some of our students had an opportunity to visit Millville Senior High School.  I guess you could it a Bear-Bolt connection, and it was fantastic.  Anatomy and Physiology students and staff greeted our Bears with open arms, and it was a full-blown case of high engagement.  Our students learned about the digestive system through a series of hands-on labs and interactive instruction.  We cannot thank the fine students and staff of MSHS enough for their hospitality and willingness to embrace our students.  In short, our Bears had a blast, and many were heard to say they cannot wait until they are a little older and can take advantage of what the high school has to offer.  For our part, it was certainly a reminder that one of our jobs at the elementary level is to prepare them for success now and beyond.  Seeing our students get a taste of the future was rewarding on many levels for all involved.  MSHS - thank you!

There are students in there somewhere

How do you keep students and staff running, walking, and exercising for 45 minutes without really having them realize it?  Throw color at them, of course.  Bacon's spring color run took place on Wednesday, and it proved to be a messy but fun and active event.  We'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.  Needless to say, everyone had a blast - a color blast.  There were rumors that the principal had extra color powder dumped on him, and he was still washing off the color two days later.  It would appear from the pics that he did seem a little extra blue.

Congrats on a great year
Our Safety Patrol embarked on an overnight trip to our nation's capital.  They took in the sights and learned some history along the way.  After a full year of helping to keep their classmates safe, we think they deserved this outing.  Safety Patrol members, thank you for your hard work this year!

We've got another busy week ahead of us, so make sure to check out the week-at-a-glance section below. As always, double-check the school calendar.
