We had a phenomenal Marvelous Musicians Concert on Wednesday! Our kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students did an amazing job and impressed both staff and families. Thank you to Mrs. Englehart for coordinating such a wonderful performance. Remember, music has a steady beat!

Last week, we also celebrated Staff Appreciation Week. We kicked off the week with a special guest for Motivation Monday, Dr. Mazzoni, who spoke about the power teachers have and the impact they make each and every day. Throughout the week, our cafeteria team went above and beyond with treats, soda bars, chip bars, mock margaritas, pizza, and much more.

We also had our Song of the Day challenge, with winners receiving recess coverage from Dr. Cook so they could enjoy an hour lunch. Daily raffles were sponsored by the Millville Administrators Association. We are so grateful for our entire staff, including our custodians, nurse, secretaries, teachers, paraprofessionals, counselor, Child Study Team, and bus drivers. Each person helps make Bacon a special place.

We ended the week with an NJSLA Pep Rally, where students danced, practiced test-taking strategies, learned how to stay quiet while others are working, danced some more, and met Maverick, the high school mascot. Ms. Berry challenged each student to be here every day and to be on time. Students who meet that challenge will be rewarded with a special event on Friday, May 15.

This week, we transition into NJSLA testing for grades 3–5. We are excited for our students to show how much they have learned this year and to work toward improving their scores from last year.

We are BEARS! Be Excited About Reading in School

Last week was an amazing fundraising week for the Bacon PTO! Our Pizza Bingo and Silent Auction were a huge success, raising over $2,000 for the PTO. The event was extremely well attended and a great night for our school community.

Our Spring Book Fair was also a tremendous success, with over $3,000 in sales. Students were excited to purchase books and other items throughout the week, and it was wonderful seeing so much enthusiasm for reading.

Double Good Popcorn Leaderboard

The PTO Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser was another success. As always, it became very competitive, which helped increase sales. Congratulations to Mrs. Catlett for being this year’s top seller! However, the real winner was the Bacon PTO, as we sold over $3,000 worth of popcorn, resulting in approximately $1,500 raised for our students and school activities.

In addition, the PTO 5th Grade Pretzel Sale was a huge hit. We sold out of pretzels during Pizza Bingo, and the fundraiser continues to support end-of-year activities for our 5th graders.

This week, we also held our annual Staff vs. Students Hockey Game. Of course, the staff came away with an 8-2 victory, but more importantly, it was a fun and memorable experience for our entire school community. We would especially like to thank Mrs. DiGiorgio, as this was her final Bacon Hockey Game before retiring at the end of the school year. The hockey game has always been one of her favorite Bacon traditions, and she will certainly be missed.

We are also excited to celebrate Staff Appreciation Week this week. We are incredibly grateful for all of our staff members and the dedication they show our students every single day.

We are excited to showcase our K-2 students this Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Bacon Gym. Parents and families are invited to attend and enjoy the performance by our talented students.

On Friday at 2:30 PM, we will hold a pep rally for students in grades 3-5 as we get them excited and motivated for the upcoming NJSLA Math and Language Arts assessments taking place the week of May 11-15.
