February 18 - 22, 2019

Bears,

It was another fun-filled week here at RM Bacon, and our students and staff continue to make our school simply the best.  We have a lot of wonderful staff members who go way above-and-beyond to give our little Bears the best experiences possible, and our students are awesome!  Let's get to it.

Weekly Recap

Last week, we celebrated Valentine's Day and the 100th day of school.  Check out the pics below.  Classes had fun, engaging ways to celebrate those respective days while keeping an atmosphere of learning.

We also participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart.  Thanks to the efforts of our Bears, we raised over $1,800 for the American Heart Association in what proved to be our best Jump Rope event to date.  Thank you to everyone who helped, participated, or donated - great work!  A big thanks goes to Mrs. Muhlbaier and Ms. O'Neill for helping to organize another wonderful event.  Also, thanks to members of the Millville High School Leader's Club for their help.

Announcements

Attention all Bears and extended Bacon family - this Tuesday is our Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A.  See below for details.  Eat great food while supporting Bacon.

Also, our Wawa hoagie sale is still on.  See below, and feel free to call the school with any questions.

Here's an announcement from our cafeteria manager, Ms. Candy:
Ms. Candy is looking to turn the cafeteria into the "The Bacon Bear Hall of Fame!"  Please send a picture of your athlete, dancer, musician, gamer, or whatever they do that they love doing.  A 4x6 or larger would be best.  If you don't have one that size, send it and I'll make a copy.  If you'd like to email it, send it to candace.devich@millville.org.  I'm looking forward to showcasing our Bears' accomplishments!

There is a potential for snow next week.  What do you think?  Will it be a hit or a miss?

Everyone have a Beary good week!!

February 11-15, 2019

Bears,

Can you believe we are quickly (as in next week!) approaching the 100th day of school?  While this will be obvious, I'll state it anyway: we are officially past the halfway mark of the year.  And while we have plenty of learning and teaching to do, it's a good point in time to look back on what we've accomplished as a school and where we've still got work to do.  Celebrate the victories, learn and adjust from the missed opportunities, and always be moving forward.

So, let me wish everyone an early happy 100, and we trust the remaining days will be just as good, if not better, than the first 100.

Weekly Recap
On Monday, classes that won the Golden Bear Buck (for excellent behavior during specials) were treated to a bonus recess.  Nice job to those classes - keep up the good work.

Also earlier in the week, our Bear Bucks store was open for business.  Bears who earned Bear Bucks during the month of January were able to spend their well-earned Bacon currency on a wide selection of prizes.  Teacher, thank you for recognizing and awarding safe, responsible, and respectful behavior.  Keep the bucks flowing.

On Wednesday, our kindergarten classes went a showing of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat at the Levoy Theatre.  The students had a lot of fun, and the teachers said the show was excellent!  Thank you Levoy for hosting our Bears.

Announcements
We have a fun week ahead.  The 100th day of school, Jump Rope for Heart, and Valentine's Day all fall on the same day - Thursday.  It should be an interesting, fun-filled adventure.

Also next week we have an IR&S meeting and AVID testing - teachers involved in both should have been already notified of times and locations.  If you have any questions, call the office.

Attention all Bears and extended Bacon family - we are excited to announce our Bacon Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A.  See below for details.

For February, we are encouraging our students to focus on being honest and truthful in all their dealings, admit wrongdoing when necessary, act with integrity, and accept responsibility.  When someone is trustworthy, they do the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

February 4 - 8, 2019

Bears,

We hope you are thawing out from the cold snap that has recently and rudely attacked a large part of the country.  Warm weather fans - spring is just around the corner.  No, it's actually not - sorry.  There is plenty of winter left (although next week will be noticeably warmer), but that doesn't mean Bacon isn't sizzling (Bacon...sizzle).  We've got plenty going on.

Weekly Recap
Unfortunately, Mr. Coyle was out a few days this week thanks to a bout with a head cold.  He'd like to thank those who stopped in to help cover.  The show went on, students were engaged in learning, and Bacon didn't miss a beat.

On Wednesday, we had our district staff professional development day.  The teachers were engaged in useful and helpful planning and discussions that will ultimately result in better instruction and improved student learning.  Great job to all who took full advantage of the day to sharpen your tools, so to speak.

On Friday, it was double-assembly madness!  In the morning, Jungle John brought some of his critter friends for a visit with our Bears.  It was educational and fun, and the students loved getting some face time with nature.  On Friday afternoon, we made up our rescheduled PBIS assembly.  We recognized our January students of the month, talked about positive behavior, and played a few games.  Always a good time!

Announcements
Teachers, the Bear Bucks store will be open on Monday and Tuesday.  Ms. Berry sent out the schedule a few weeks ago.

The kindergarten classes will be going to see Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat at the Levoy on Wednesday.  Have fun!

There is a staff meeting on Thursday.  This week's discussion will be a follow-up and check-in on the PLC process.

Here's an announcement from our cafeteria manager, Ms. Candy:

Thought-of-the-week:  We all have"trust accounts" with people.  When we do something that earns or keeps trust, you add a little to that account.  When you do something that breaks trust, the account gets lower.  How much is currently in your trust account?  What are you doing to earn or keep trust with others?
