May 6 - May 10, 2019

Bears,

And we're back.  After a well-earned spring break (during which this blogger even took a break from the blog - sorry if that messed anyone up!), we are back in business here at RM Bacon.

Weekly Recap

Our 5th grade classes attended the annual multi-cultural event on High St.  They were commended for their excellent behavior and participation.  Great job to Mrs. Muhlbaier and Mr. Drewnowski on preparing your classes for the event, and great job students on representing your teachers and school so well!

We had our monthly PBIS assembly where we celebrated our honor roll and principal's list students as well as our students-of-the-month.  As always, it was a fun time of recognition, celebration, and challenging games.

Prior to the break, the Millville Police Department came over for their annual game with our students.  We'd like to thank the members of the MPD for their dedication to our school and community.

Announcements

April 15 - 18, 2019

Bears,

We hope everyone had a great week - the final full week before spring break!  We've got four days between us and some well-deserved rest and relaxation, so let's make the best of them and go into the break on top!

Weekly Recap

Last weekend, a few of our Bears participated in the Club 21 robotics competition at Holly Heights (see pics below).  The students did a nice job and represented themselves and the school well, and one of our Bears finished 2nd overall in the competition!  Nice work!

On Monday and Tuesday, our school completed the Language Arts sections of the NJSLA (formerly PARCC test).  Over the course of both days, we only had one student absent - great work, Bears!  We'd like to thank Amy Scull, Debbie Stowman, Kim Berry, Pat Wulk, and Dave Grippo for all their help throughout this process.  Overall, things went smoothly at Bacon, and we're sure next week's math portion will be equally smooth.

On Friday, we had one of our annual time-honored Bacon traditions - the students vs staff floor hockey game.  The student champions from this year's floor hockey season - the Penguins - faced off against a hungry and out-for-redemption staff (who lost last year's game).  The final was 12-3 in favor of the staff.  Sorry, students.  Not this year!  Check out the pics below.

April 8 - 12, 2019

Bears,

The first week of April is in the can, and next week kicks off the NJSLA (formerly PARCC) testing.  While the test isn't the only indicator of a student's progress and abilities (not to mentioned the school's effectiveness in educating our learners), it is an important one we take seriously.  Parents/guardians - please remind your child (children) to get plenty of sleep prior to the test, to eat breakfast, and to be on time and present on testing days.  We are sure they'll do great!

Announcements

As mentioned, NJSLA testing begins on Monday, April 8th.  Monday and Tuesday are ELA days, and Wednesday is the make-up day.  Math testing will be on the following Monday and Tuesday (4/15 - 4/16).  Looking ahead, the science test will be on 5/9 and 5/10.

We want to thank everyone who brought in items for the Warming Hearts program.  Our generous Bears collected nearly 20 boxes of items (see pic below).  Way to go!

Staff - we have a meeting on 4/11.

On Friday, we have our time-honored tradition of the student vs. staff floor hockey game.  We'll begin calling the students to the gym around 2 pm.

Our Wawa hoagie sale is still on.  See below, and feel free to call the school with any questions.
