Attendance Update: Small Steps, Big Impact!
We are excited to share some positive news around chronic absenteeism at Bacon! Our current rate is 18%, down from 20% in December and 21% in November. While that may seem like a small change, even a one-percent decrease represents meaningful progress and is absolutely worth celebrating.

A huge thank you goes to Ms. Sacco and Ms. Berry, along with Violet Richter and Peter Gonzalez, for leading our attendance efforts and working closely with students who needed extra support. Your dedication and consistency are making a real difference.

Looking ahead to February, Ms. Berry will be launching the Groundhog Attendance Challenge! Students will track our school’s attendance, and the groundhog’s “shadow” will reflect our attendance percentage. This challenge will be fun, engaging, and rewarding for students and it reinforces an important message: being in school every day matters. We need to keep the momentum going, because we are making a difference!

Class pictures will take place on Wednesday, February 4, in the Bacon gym. A schedule with specific times will be shared directly with teachers ahead of the day to ensure a smooth process for all classes. We’re looking forward to capturing these special moments with our students!

The Bacon PTO will also be selling Valentine Grams beginning Tuesday to support our 5th grade students. Valentine Grams are $1 each and are a fun way for students to send a special message to friends while helping support 5th grade activities. Thank you to the PTO and our families for always finding meaningful ways to support our students!

February is Heart Health Month, and Bacon will be participating in the Jump Rope for Heart / Kids Heart Challenge on February 17. This event helps students learn the importance of heart health while supporting a great cause. We will be holding a kickoff assembly (date to be determined) to get students excited and ready to participate. More information will be shared as we get closer, and we look forward to another successful and heart-healthy event!

Thank you to all staff for encouraging daily attendance and for communicating consistently with families. This work truly matters and it shows.

Spotlight of the Week: Candy Land Champions!

Our Candy Land Challenge winners were celebrated this week, and it was a sweet success! Congratulations to our 1st grade and 4th grade classes, who earned the most points by showing great manners and keeping our cafeteria clean. As their reward, both grades enjoyed their special winning lunch and after voting, they chose a Chinese Chicken lunch as their favorite! Smiles were everywhere, and it was wonderful to see students enjoying the reward they worked so hard to earn.
Great job to our Candy Land champions, we are so proud of you!

Valentine’s Family Dance - Thursday, February 12 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

We are excited to invite our Bacon families to our Valentine’s Family Dance, sponsored by the Bacon PTO! Join us on Thursday, February 12, from 6:00–7:30 PM in the Bacon gym for a fun-filled evening with a DJ, dancing, and light refreshments. This is a family event, and students must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The cost is $2 per person, and it promises to be a great night of music, fun, and community.  Our PTO will also be selling Valentines Grams and Baked Goods. We hope to see you there! Please let us know at the bottom of the flyer by 2/10 how many people are coming so we can plan.
