Bacon Weekly - June 16 - 20, 2025

The Little Free Library at Bacon

Bacon Bears,

We are BEARS (Be Excited About Reading in School)

Last week marked our final full week of the school year, and we made sure to soak up every second of it! From adventures in nature to hands-on learning and beloved traditions, our students and staff truly had an amazing week.

Our 4th graders took action to protect the environment by helping save horseshoe crabs and exploring the natural beauty of the Maurice River Bluffs. Meanwhile, 2nd grade students reached for the stars during their visit to Rowan University’s Planetarium, sparking curiosity about space and science.

We also welcomed Book Smiles to RM Bacon, where every student received three books to take home and we encourage them to read all summer long. Our 3rd graders wrapped up their Marine Life Unit with an impressive presentation for parents and community members, showcasing all they’ve learned.

Another highlight of the week was the dedication of our brand new Little Free Library! This special project was a meaningful collaboration between our Student Council and the PTO. A huge thank you to PTO President Amanda Alliano and Vice President Karen Lopez for their support in making this dream a reality. We also want to recognize Mrs. Holliday, our Student Council advisor, for guiding our student leaders throughout the process. The Little Free Library will serve as a lasting gift to our school and community, promoting a love of reading for years to come. It is located right in front of school and will soon be registered with the Little Free Library World Map -  https://littlefreelibrary.org/

The week concluded with one of our favorite traditions: the Annual Staff vs. Students Hockey Game! The competition was fierce, but in the end, the staff held on to their winning streak!
