Bacon Weekly - 12/17/23

The first snow!

Bacon Bears,

We are BEARS (Be Excited About Reading in School)

As the calendar inches closer to the Winter Break, Bacon School is buzzing with holiday cheer and excitement. This week is particularly special, with an early dismissal on December 22 at 1:30 PM, marking the beginning of a well-deserved holiday break for students and staff.

K- 2 Sing A Long - Wednesday at 2:30 PM

We are looking forward to our K-2 Sing-Along this Wednesday at 2:30 PM. Mrs. Englehart will lead the Sing A Long featuring our most wonderful singers in the building. Parents are encouraged to attend!

Teacher and Education Service Provider of the Year - 2023

Congratulations to Mrs. Starcher, Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Cassidy, Education Service Provider of the Year for Bacon School. This is such an amazing accomplishment for Mrs. Starcher and Mrs. Cassidy. They were selected by Bacon staff for continuing to go above and beyond for our community. They will be recognized in the Spring of 2024. Stay tuned for more information and again, congratulations!

Winter Concert Recap

One of the highlights leading up to this festive season was the incredible Winter Concert organized by our dedicated music teacher, Mrs. Englehart. On December 5th, students in grades 3-5 showcased their musical talents, filling the Bacon Gym with holiday spirit. Mrs. Englehart's hard work and passion for music education truly shone through, creating a magical experience for everyone in attendance.

5th Graders went to the Nutcracker

Adding to the holiday enchantment, our fifth-grade students embarked on a magical journey to witness the classic tale of "The Nutcracker" on December 15. The performance left them captivated by the dazzling costumes, graceful dance routines, and the timeless story of Clara and her Nutcracker prince. Such experiences not only entertain but also enrich the cultural exposure of our students.

Reindeer Run - Healthy Staff and Students!

Each month our Healthy Schools team organizes an event for the Bacon community. This month we held our first Reindeer Run. All students and staff either walked or ran for about 30 minutes in a brisk, sunny December afternoon. Afterwards, students received healthy fruit from the cafeteria! We even had a special visit from Maverick, the HS Mascot and SANTA!!

Book Fair was a Huge Success!

Thank you to Mrs. Holliday for organizing our first Book Fair in a few years. She went above and beyond by keeping the Book Fair opened at the Winter Dance, the Winter Concert as well as during the day. We earned over 2,000.00 for our school from the Book Fair! This is great news and it will help fund some really cool projects for our kids!

Looking Ahead to Winter Break

As we bid farewell to the school year in 2023, we eagerly anticipate the return from Winter Break on January 2, 2024. This break provides a well-deserved opportunity for students and staff to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones.

Expressing Gratitude

Before we embark on our holiday adventures, let's take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Englehart for orchestrating a Winter Concert that left a lasting impression on all of us. Her dedication to fostering a love for music and the arts is truly commendable, and we are fortunate to have such a passionate educator guiding our students.

We want to thank Ms. Peck for organizing the decorations for the Winter Concert. The gym looked fantastic and everyone enjoyed the winter scenes and decorations! Thank you again, Ms. Peck!

In the same breath, we extend our appreciation to the fifth-grade teachers and chaperones who made the Nutcracker field trip a reality. Providing students with opportunities to experience the arts firsthand contributes significantly to their holistic development, and we are grateful for the commitment of our educators.

Thank you, Bacon School community, for making this a memorable and festive time for everyone. Here's to a joyful Winter Break and an exciting start to the new year when we come back on January 2, 2024. Happy holidays!
