Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

We are entering our second week of 2026 and things are already off to a great start at Bacon School!

January Attendance Challenge – Build the Most Snowmen!

Our January Attendance Challenge is officially underway, and this month it’s all about building snowmen!

Starting January 7, 2026, each classroom will have a snowman posted outside their door showing their daily attendance percentage. The goal is simple, build the highest percentage of snowmen in the school by being on time and attending school every day.

  • Snowmen will be updated daily

  • Weekly updates will be shared so everyone knows who is in the lead

  • At the end of the month, the class with the highest attendance percentage will earn a special celebration in their honor

Let’s build those snowmen by showing up every day and making 2026 our best year yet!

Current Attendance Leaders

  • 3rd Place – 97% Attendance: Miss Ruberton & Mrs. DiGiorgio

  • 2nd Place – 98% Attendance: Mrs. Lunemann & Miss Anton

  • 1st Place – 100% Attendance: Mrs. Bingham & Mrs. Smith

Amazing job to our attendance leaders... keep it up!

Picture of the Week

Our 4th grade music students were hard at work learning to play melodic ostinatos. It was wonderful to see students focused, collaborating, and creating music together!

December Attendance Winners

Bacon Bears,

We are BEARS! (Be Excited About Reading in School)

Happy New Year, Bacon Family!

I hope you and your families had a restful, joyful, and well-deserved winter break. Whether your time was filled with travel, traditions, quiet moments at home, or simply catching your breath, I hope it brought you renewed energy as we begin a brand new chapter together in 2026.

There is something powerful about turning the calendar. A new year invites reflection, fresh perspective, and the opportunity to begin again with intention. At Bacon School, that intention is clear: to continue building a school community where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to grow.

Professional Development Day – Monday, January 5

Teachers will return on Monday for a full Professional Development Day. This time is designed to reconnect, refocus, and strengthen our instructional practices as we head into the second half of the year. Our staff will be collaborating around student data, refining strategies to meet diverse learning needs, and aligning our efforts to ensure every Bear has what they need to succeed.

Our educators consistently show up with heart, dedication, and resilience. This day is about honoring that work while sharpening our tools for the months ahead.

Students Return Tuesday, January 6

Students will return to school on Tuesday, and we cannot wait to welcome them back into our classrooms and hallways. The second half of the year is full of opportunities for growth, learning, celebrations, and meaningful connections.

We encourage families to take a moment with your children before they return to set goals for the new year. Whether it is improving attendance, building stronger friendships, reading more at home, or simply trying their best each day, small intentions make a big difference.

December Attendance Challenge – Celebrating Commitment

Attendance winners received cookies and hot chocolate

Before break, we wrapped up our December Attendance Challenge, organized by Ms. Sacco and Ms. Berry, and it was a tremendous success!

Throughout the month, classes competed for the highest attendance rates, with weekly winners announced and celebrated along the way. The energy and excitement around showing up every day was contagious, and our Bears rose to the challenge.

The top three classes were rewarded on December 23 with a special celebration featuring a movie, cookies, and hot chocolate — a well-deserved treat for their dedication and consistency.

A huge congratulations to the classrooms that achieved an outstanding 95% attendance rate:

  • Mrs. Gandy

  • Mrs. Lunemann

  • Ms. McLaughlin

  • Ms. Powers

  • Ms. Swaim

We are incredibly proud of these classes and grateful to Ms. Sacco and Ms. Berry for leading an initiative that reinforces the importance of being present and ready to learn every day. Great attendance builds strong habits, and strong habits build strong futures.

Let’s carry that momentum into 2026!

Looking Ahead

As we step into 2026, we remain committed to:

  • Maintaining a positive and safe school climate

  • Supporting academic growth for every learner

  • Strengthening partnerships with families and the community

  • Celebrating the character, effort, and achievements of our students

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and belief in Bacon School. Together, we are not just starting a new year, we are continuing a journey of growth, care, and excellence.

Here’s to a wonderful 2026 at Bacon School.

We are Bears. We are better together. 💙🐻
