Bacon Bears,
We are BEARS! Be Excited About Reading in School
Last week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students completed the NJSLA assessments in Math, Language Arts, and Writing. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, focus, and effort throughout the testing process, and we are excited to see the growth they have made this year. As a reward, all students with perfect attendance during testing were treated to an ice cream party and free time.
This week, we are excited to celebrate two special members of our Bacon family. Our Teacher of the Year, Andrew Sooy, and our Educational Services Professional of the Year, Dianne Goehle, will be honored alongside educators from across Cumberland County during a morning recognition ceremony. Later in the day, all Millville honorees will be celebrated at a district luncheon. Congratulations again to both Mr. Sooy and Mrs. Goehle on this well-deserved recognition!
On Wednesday, our 1st graders will head to Cape May for their class field trip. We know they are going to have an amazing time exploring and learning together.
The week concludes on Friday with one of Bacon’s longest-standing traditions — Olympic Day! Our 4th and 5th grade students will parade to Memorial High School to compete in various events and activities. This tradition dates all the way back to the 1970s and continues to be a special experience for our students and community.
After cheering on the parade, our students in grades K–3 will enjoy FUN DAY! This year’s FUN DAY promises to be our biggest and most exciting yet, featuring more inflatables, water activities, games, and fun than ever before. Once the 4th and 5th graders return from Olympic Day, they will join in the FUN DAY festivities as well. These events are made possible through the tremendous support of our school community and fundraising efforts throughout the year.
Parents are encouraged to attend the Olympic Day parade and events as spectators. Please note that all visitors attending events at Wheaton Field must adhere to appropriate sportsmanship expectations and remain within designated parent areas.
Please also note that FUN DAY is a student-only event.
We are looking forward to an incredible week at Bacon!
Eagle Scout Project at Bacon - Alumni Max Richter
Our own Max Richter is in the process of completing his Eagle Scout project, and he wanted his project to benefit his favorite elementary school — RM Bacon!
With the help of fellow Scouts, Max designed and built an outdoor collaboration space that our students and staff will enjoy for years to come. His hard work, leadership, and dedication to giving back to the Bacon community are truly appreciated.
We are incredibly proud of Max and all that he has accomplished. After graduation, he will be attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where he will continue his academic and athletic career playing baseball.
Congratulations, Max, and thank you for making a lasting impact on Bacon!

Congratulations - Gabby Hewitt
Congratulations to Gabriella Hewitt for recently winning 1st Place in the Softball Home Run Derby!
We are so proud of Gabby and all of her hard work and dedication. She is a true Bacon Bear doing great things both inside and outside of the classroom.
Way to go, Gabby!
