Bacon Bears,
Well... that's a wrap!
As we close the book on another incredible school year, I simply want to say thank you. It has truly been an amazing year at R.M. Bacon Elementary School, and none of our success would have been possible without the partnership between our dedicated staff, supportive families, and, most importantly, our amazing students.
This year, we celebrated so many accomplishments together. We continued building on our culture as a State School of Character, strengthened our PBIS and Character Education programs, and expanded opportunities for students to take on leadership roles. Academically, our students worked incredibly hard, and we saw strong growth in reading and mathematics. We celebrated outstanding performances on i-Ready, improved reading achievement through ARC/IRLA, and exceeded our math goal by maintaining 81% of our students who entered the year on grade level. We also continued making gains in English Language Arts while seeing more students move into proficiency.
One of our proudest accomplishments was reducing our chronic absenteeism rate from 29.3% to just 23%—a reduction of 6.3 percentage points, or an impressive 21.5% decrease from last year. This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, families, teachers, and staff who made attendance a priority throughout the school year. We also continued to reduce discipline referrals, creating an even more positive learning environment where students could learn, grow, and succeed.
Beyond academics, we created countless memories together. From our Halloween Frolic, Read-A-Thon, concerts, Art Show, Olympic Day, Fun Day, Water Day, PBIS celebrations, field trips, assemblies, and our wonderful 5th Grade Step Up Ceremony, this year was filled with opportunities for our students to learn, grow, celebrate, and simply enjoy being kids. These are the moments that help make Bacon such a special place.
As we say goodbye to this school year, we also want to recognize two very special members of the Bacon family.
Congratulations and best wishes to Ms. Veal and Mrs. DiGiorgio on your well-deserved retirements! Thank you for your years of dedication, compassion, and service to the students, families, and staff of R.M. Bacon Elementary School. Your impact will be felt for years to come, and you will always be part of the Bacon family. We wish you nothing but happiness and good health as you begin this exciting new chapter.
To our rising 5th graders, congratulations! We are so proud of everything you have accomplished during your time at Bacon. We have watched you grow into confident, caring, and capable young people, and we know you are ready for the next step. Best of luck in middle school—we know you'll continue to make us proud. Remember, once a Bacon Bear, always a Bacon Bear!
Summer Office Hours
Our school office will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM throughout the summer. Please note that there will be times when the office is temporarily closed due to professional development, building updates, or other school business. When the office is closed, a notice will be posted on the front door. If you need assistance, please call (856) 327-6101, and we will be happy to help.
We will also be working hard over the summer to make several improvements to our school as we prepare to welcome everyone back in September.
Finally, thank you for allowing us the privilege of educating your children this year. It is truly an honor to serve this incredible community. The support you show our staff and students each day is one of the many reasons Bacon feels like family.
Have a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. Make wonderful memories, read lots of books, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy every moment. We can't wait to welcome everyone back in September for another amazing year at R.M. Bacon Elementary School.
